Car-trains
are a possible key advance in transportation technology. They have the
potential o alleviate congestion by increasing throughput (number of
vehicles per lane per hour) by a factor of at least two. Vehicles that
are physically coupled or able to follow with a gap of less than 1 foot
can reduce aerodynamic drag more than 50%. However, significant
development issues regarding the controllability, safety and new driver behavior remain to be resolved... |
Yes! If these car-trains were to be our mode of transportation, it would definitely reduce the possibilities of traffic or even accidents. However, we should also think about the entire project. If we would install more rails on the road, it could cost more traffic and the expenses would definitely be huge. But overall, it's a good project. We should make a feasibility study first to see if this could be possible.
